National Public Lands Day – Seed Harvest

Calling all volunteers!

Volunteers are needed to help us collect seeds at our National Public Lands Day event, Saturday, Sept. 22 at Dick Young Forest Preserve, from 10 a.m. – noon.

Volunteers of all-ages are welcome to participate in America’s largest single-day volunteer event dedicated to improving public lands.

For the seed collection, Natural Resources staff will show volunteers how to harvest seeds. Bring work gloves, if you prefer. This is a fun and rewarding activity, great for team-building events, exercise, volunteer hours, and for spending time in nature.

Groups of less than 10 do not need to register. Groups of 10 or more, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 630-762-2741 or email to RSVP.

Dick Young Forest Preserve is located at 39W115 Main St., Batavia. Meet at the Main Street entrance.

Nature Photos

Forest Preserve District of Kane County staff are encouraged to take photos, while out in the field. The Community Affairs Department receives awesome shots, from flowers to frogs, to fall foliage! Below are some of the many photos we get throughout the year. Enjoy!
