Are you ready for spring weather? The sap’s rising! Join us for our annual maple-tapping festival.
District naturalists will demonstrate how to tap a maple tree and you’ll have the opportunity to try your hand at drilling and setting a tap.
We’ll simmer sap over an open fire and watch as it thickens to syrup. There will be a “Sugarin’ Time” hike, where you’ll learn how to distinguish maples from other species of hardwood trees in the woodland.
This is the perfect event for your entire family. Children can get their face painted and all are welcome to taste-test local maple syrup. Enjoy the Nature Center after all of the fun outdoor activities!
This event takes place on Saturday, March 11 & Sunday, March 12, from 1-4 p.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center, located within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, at 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles. No registration is required for this free event.
